We support science-based forestry, and believe environmental regulations should be developed on the basis of sound, defensible science, not emotion. Timber harvesting is often
blamed for species' extinction, though there are no known cases involving extinction caused by logging. In fact, many small woodland owners not engaged in commercial timber production, view harvesting as an excellent tool for creating or conserving wildlife habitat, as well as biological diversity. Based on these insights we support the original intent of the Endangered Species Act but we also believe that, in recent years, it has been misused by litigants and courts that seem more interested in banning timber harvesting than in protecting habitat.
